EPISODE 90
When having a party, punch is a great way to go. It’s a beautiful centerpiece and the perfect way to prevent playing bartender. This is so good and so easy. You can do everything except add the fizzy before your guests arrive, making it the perfect stress-free party drink. Feel free to double, triple, or quadruple the recipe according to your needs.
Ingredients
- 4 limes, juiced
- 30 mint leaves
- 2 cup pomegranate cocktail/juice *
- ½ cup gin **
- 4 cups ginger ale/soda water *
- 1 pomegranate
**If you’re using sweetened pomegranate juice, use soda water. If you’re using pure pom juice, then use the ginger ale (sprite or 7-up will work too).
**Gin won’t freeze if you put it into the freezer so if you like your drinks cold, let it hang out there for a few hours.
Instructions
Combine the lime juice, mint, pomegranate juice, and gin. Add the ginger ale/soda water and ice cubes right before serving. Then bash in the seeds from half the pomegranate for seasonal deliciousness. If you wanted to, you could replace the virgin fizzy for alcoholic fizzy, twice the kick. You could also up the gin content if you wanted to, or even make this with cranberry juice instead of pomegranate juice.
I would recommend making a few large ice blocks for this drink. They’ll melt slowly, which will prevent the punch from being watered down. It’s also really nice to take the seeds from the other half of the pomegranate and put them in the water before it freezes, making your cubes uber festive. If you’re not using a silicon mold for the ice cubes, you may need to run a little hot water over them in order to release them from their container.
Enjoy… and don’t forget to drink responsibly.
