Chocolate Covered Fruit

This is a beautiful treat for a loved one, for a hostess gift, or just for yourself. It’s edible, which is always fun, and you can absolutely get creative with which nuts, dried fruits, and fresh fruits you use. Just be sure that your fresh fruits aren’t wet at all, since that prevents the chocolate from properly adhering. You can also cover marshmallows, malt balls, caramel squares, cookies, and anything else you can think of. Buy a cute box at the dollar store, line it with tissue paper or a doily, and you have a gorgeous handmade present.

  • Dark chocolate
  • Almonds, roasted at 350F for 15 minutes
  • Dried cranberries
  • Dried apricots
  • Strawberries, washed and well dried
  • Blackberries, washed and well dried

Place chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot with a few inches of water in it. Make sure the bowl with the chocolate does not touch the water. Once the water starts boiling, the heat from the steam will slowly melt the chocolate without burning it. Stir frequency until the chocolate is beautifully melted.

Remove from the pan and get ready to dip. Make sure you have a lined tray ready for your chocolate covered delights.

I like to make little circles of roasted almonds and cranberries (around 4 of each), dipped into the chocolate then spooned onto the lined sheet.

For the rest of the ingredients, cover with as much chocolate as you want, then leave to set.

If your house is below 20°C/72°F, you can leave your chocolates on a counter. If your house is warmer, allow to set in a fridge for 30-60 minutes.
